Valve adjustment gone bad
Take your time when tightening the cam caps. Do them all a little at a time, pull them all down evenly. Get a nice straightline view of the cam timing marks as well. The engine will not sync, or run, if you are one tooth off.
I don't know if I just got lucky or not but the job was very easy for me to do. I followed the service manual and the longest part of the whole job was readjusting all the valves again.
An hour to uninstall and an hour to reinstall with about 30 minutes in there going to readjusting the valves. It went silky smooth and started right up and sounds better than ever.
I deffinitly made sure that I torqued down the caps evenly. I went back and forth in a criss cross fasion and had to go over the caps about 3 times till all of the bolts were down correctly.

I wish you lived 3000 mi. closer to me as I would like you do adjust my valves... making a trip to CA soon??
Adjusting your valves is not a hard job to do. If you just take your time and use a torque wrench to tighten everything back down it should go smooth.
I didn't use a torque wrench my last time which got me into this mess. I don't know what I was thinking.
