Default Valve guides...

I spun a rod bearing a few months back and am now finally about a week away from getting my car back. My machinist told me that my valve guides were really worn out. I Have an ap1 with about 85k. Should i stick with oem or look for aftermarket? Also what after market companies make valve guides for the ap1?

Nickle bronze material ( ENCO45) or similar is a good upgrade with good head conductivity and wear characteristics.

Any idea what site i could find these on? I searched last night and only came up with some Ferrea bronze manganese guides... I need to get there ordered ASAP. Its the only thing left on my rebuild.

I went with OEM as well. Price was really good. AND the sites' warehouse actually had them in stock. Thumbs up to bkhondaparts.com ...

If you are going for non-original guides you will probably have to get some generic ones and machine them for length and the stem seals. Any good head shop should be able to source them and machine them. Once they are installed in the head the bore is reamed and honed to size.

Otherwise, the original guides are the right size and ready to install and more than adequate for most tunes.
