Default Valve tick?

Ok so after hitting 100,000 miles its been something else going wrong every 2-3 months. This time I started my car the other morning and was met with this ticking sound. The night before, it drove fine with no noise and I don't run my car hard since its my only transportation. I was hoping it would be as simple as the timing chain tensioner but after listening closely the sound seems to be coming from the intake side of the head (as you can hear in the video). The car still drives fine i.e. no hesitation but the ticking gets slightly louder with RPMs. I've done a compression check and all cylinders are between 220 and 230 psi Any suggestions or similar experiences?

I would agree that it is not a TCT because that normally quiets after startup and sounds nothing like that.

I may also have this sound I have heard it plenty of times regarding a Honda.

Any advice guys?

How's your oil level? Valves get loud if your oil is low.

I think a valve adjustment is part of the regular 100k mile service, maybe your valves are loose?

if its like a "card in bike spokes" sound then i say valves, mine did that a few thousand miles ago, brought it to honda and they adjusted the valves, said intake was pretty bad, exhaust was out but nothing to bad. And that was about 5k miles ago.
And when they were adjusted car ran great, until about a week ago, its loud again and ya, im pretty sure theyre are out of adjustment again. Or i have a worn valvetrain part somewhere. I think its when you hit vtec alot, it puts stress somewhere on the valves or valvetrain and causes this to happen, i could be worng, but i know in vtec the cam opens the intake valves more?
But just something to keep in mind, youll always hear your valves click, even when you get an adjustment.
**also, i dont have speakers on my comp so i didnt listen to your vid, so it could be something completly different.

Had this happen at a dealer, they adjusted the valves hot and probably did them out of spec.

I had to open up my motor again and all of the valves were off. Re-did them and 40K later still no problem - this was on an Acura TL

Do a valve adjustment. If that doesnt work, come back and let us know.

Thanks for the input guys. thankfully i have Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off this week so I'll have plenty of time to open up the valve cover and see if i can tighten anything back to spec. I baby this car so its frustrating when this stuff starts happening.

im thinking they(dealer) did, i mean i was car-less for 2 1/2 hours so i would imagine they let the car cool first. plus it ran great for all of about 5 k miles.
Now it sounds like a fricken weed-whacker(exaggeration) when i accelerate from 1-3 from 1k all the way to vtec. the sad thing is i don't want to hit vtec any more until they check it out. To be honest i think they either adjusted wrong, or somethings loose...

Yeah stealerships are an epic fail in my opinion. They never seem to get it right the first time but they charge you for their lack of competence. And then they replace stuff that's perfectly fine...ugh its the whole reason I learned to work on cars.
