if its like a "card in bike spokes" sound then i say valves, mine did that a few thousand miles ago, brought it to honda and they adjusted the valves, said intake was pretty bad, exhaust was out but nothing to bad. And that was about 5k miles ago.
And when they were adjusted car ran great, until about a week ago, its loud again and ya, im pretty sure theyre are out of adjustment again. Or i have a worn valvetrain part somewhere. I think its when you hit vtec alot, it puts stress somewhere on the valves or valvetrain and causes this to happen, i could be worng, but i know in vtec the cam opens the intake valves more?
But just something to keep in mind, youll always hear your valves click, even when you get an adjustment.
**also, i dont have speakers on my comp so i didnt listen to your vid, so it could be something completly different.
Incorrect, sir. "Card in bike spokes" = TCT. 'nuff said.

Check your retainers when you pull the cover and do an adjustment.

Im assuming i can use my compression kit to keep the valves up if I need to replace the retainers? I mean if I have to pull the head I'll pull the head (that's what she said) haha. At least I could make sure everything looks good in there and put a fresh HG on it. Oh and I usually use mobile1 but I found a deal on royal purple this last time...been about 1k miles ago.

Retainers are easy, but time consuming. You don't need a compression kit or anything to fill the cylinders; just set it to TDC, do cylinders 1 and 4, then rotate the crank 180 and do cylinders 2 and 3. When the pistons are at TDC, the valves only drop about an inch, so it's impossible for you to drop/lose a valve when the retainers are off.

Apparently other peoples perspectives on "card in spokes" are different.
I know its valves. Would a better phrase be "weed-whacker" "machine gun"....well machine airsoft gun lol....
You don't hear a bad TCT while cruising, at least i never did.
I changed my TCT 2 months ago and that sound is gone. And had my valves checked/adjusted a while ago and the sound was gone for that time being(around 5k miles ago).
The sound was back. Even dropped my s2k off at Honda yesterday(for a no-charge valve adjustment might i add ^_^ ) picked it up today valve sound, gone.
Back to normal.
I believe the last time they did the adjustment they did it while the engine was still sorta warm(they did it 2 hours after letting the car sit, took them an hour to adjust and called me 3 1/2 hours later). SO this time i told them to hold it over night and do it when its completely cooled off, and they did, car sounds great, i can finally hear the engine 1st-3rd gear now

if you have recently miss-shifted, over revved, or low on oil lvl your engine is likely done with that ticking noise.

Otherwise its the tct or a freak accident.

That's what's weird about it. It drove with no problem the night before and I've never over revved or miss shifted. Oil is fine. I'll post tomorrow if the valve adjustment helped.
