Hello everybody, I am very happy to join S2ki. I wanted to ask question about the noises that i hear from my car:
I own my car for 4 years now? but i am using it only on summer time, and i dont remember that it had this sound before. I already was in Honda dealer, but they tod me it is ok, this week i want to bring it again to check compression.
Will be very pleased with the answers.
Sorry for grammar (if its wrong)), i am swiss)

i would change your oil. Royal Purple is not a good oil. Go mobil1 and tell us if it still makes the loud tick, vavle on the s2k are noisy, its just the way it is, im at 90k, and there noisy, not as bad as wen i first bought it but they are. Ive checked my clearences, honda has, and the heights on mine are perfect, and im sure yours are to.
Honestly, i would change oil. Then come back and let us know.

s2000powerS, check your oil. if its fine then check valve clearence, if thats fine your cars fine. Again, its just a valvey noise, unfortunatly, that comes with the car.

My S has the same noise as OP, which it wasnt like that until recently. I have already replaced the TCT once, and I know this noise is different than the TCT noise. This noise is consistent, and I will be attempting a valve adjustment tomorrow. I'll record before and after audio for this. I also want to make sure my retainers are all good to go since I'm at 73k miles.

Also, I attempted a valve adjustment before, and just found the workspace wayyy to tight to finish the job, so I just gave up and put it all back together. I also have slight back problems that causes extreme discomfort when put into particular positions, and this really tested me. I did find a youtube video that made this process look MUCH easier than my attempt, I just want to verify that this is correct. Can anyone comment on this process??

Thank you for your answer. I am checking oil level every day, it is a bit less then full. Last service was 3 months ago or 2000 km. At the service i ve checked if the valves clearance, it was also as in manual. The problem is that we dont have really qualified specialists for this car and for NSX, because there are few cars here. But i remember that it was working not so loud and without this diesel noise. I found this happening after the oil was changed from 5w30 to 0w30, that was dealer recommendation because before i was living in hot Spain and now I am living in Switzerland where the climate is colder. At the moment on odometer is 15000 km and my car was never used for racing and never been over-revved , because there is even no possibility to do this due to tough laws here)

They recommend it because of weather changes ( for example, today during the day was +20 C and evening +7 C) and it is cold during winter time(- temperature) . And the other thing they told me is that for high-revving cars it is better to use more, how it is to say, thinly liquid oil. I dont know whether this right or not? but in every Honda dealer they are using only this oil for Honda S2000. I cant tell them just ti switch to another oil type because i am still on warranty, thats why this sound is annoying me, my warranty will finish next year.

This car is really pissing me off. My wife and I have been in the market for an suv...narrowed down to either a Pilot or a 4Runner....and because of the trouble I've had from my S we went for the 4Runner. The last thing I want is a 3rd honda F&@#ing up...the first beinmy 5th gen prelude's tranny. Im so disappointed in honda nowadays.

sorry to hear that. Have you try little heavier oil? 5w40 or GC? The reason I'm saying is I also had noise when I had mobil 1 and switched to amsoil now, after around 500milies noise got really quite. I mean its there, but its not bad as before.

Well I have also 4runner v6, its pretty solid car. 110k, no prob at all. Well...good luck man.
