I know ... I'm such an idiot for following the manufacturer's recommendations on oil viscosity . I'll go tell my friend he's using the wrong oil (10W 30) in his '89 Civic that has 345,000+ miles on the engine!

What's the point? You'll just question everything I say anyway. Do some research and learn it for yourself first hand. Then you'll know for sure that I am right.

BTW stop quoting me out of context. I said hot weather and high RPM driving. High rpm driving is 7+k sustained rpm.

10W30 like the manufacturer recommends...if they can build a motor to spin to 9K rpm, I think they would know which oil it needs, so I will stick with the good engineer's @ Honda recommendation.

I really worried about the person that puts in 20W-50. And just mildly worried about the people that put 10W-40 in their's.

I use 0w-5 in everything I have. Done it for 15 years and no oil consumption or oil related failures. So, Dario, don't worry.

I've used 5w-30 and 10w-30 in mine, no issues at all. anything heavier and its just not slick enough for this engine and will break down very quickly (the oil, not the motor).
