Originally posted by marcucci The 1996-2001 Prelude still have the SCS connector. I'll have to check my manual, but I was pretty sure this feature has been RETAINED on all OBD2 Hondas. I haven't checked and can't be sure, but I find it hard to believe that Honda would have eliminated this since they are so end-user-friendly. Removing the SCS functionality was NOT a part of the OBD2 standard, I can tell you that.
I wan't sure if the SCS was elminated on "all 96+ Honda's" But on the S2K and the '00 Accord V6 I have in the garage the SCS, connector is no where to be found, and doesn't appear in the shop manual either.
You may want to consider purchasing "Getting to Know OBD-II" by Ralph Birnbaum and Jerry Tregulia (Ref: Chapter II OBD-i And OBD-II How are They Different?). It is available from www.amazon.com. As I said before....be aware of "Enthusiasts" here.
I'm now totally confused. First you say I'm full of it and now you say "But on the S2K and the '00 Accord V6 I have in the garage the SCS, connector is no where to be found, and doesn't appear in the shop manual either". You say in a previous post you shorted the S2000 SCS connector and got codes to flash. I have no intention of using a paper clip on the OBD-II connector, don't need to as I have OBD-II Explorer Software on my laptop and an interface to Electra.
Here's the picture of the DLC connector with the paperclip installed on my brother's S2K.
Sorry about the bright flash! But you can distinctly see the pin locations of the paperclip. And the general shape of the DLC (shorter length is on the top)
