VSA and misfire help!
Alright so most other threads on the site about VSA are people asking if the light flashing under hard conditions means they have a problem, or they're bitchin about how VSA sucks. Is there any good info on how to find out what is wrong with the system when both VSA lights come on?
Also, using the blink method I found out I have a misfire on cylinders 1 and 2 with a solid CEL (not blinking). Code translates to P1399, but the blink sequence was both 7-1 and 7-2
Both the VSA and misfire issues started suddenly while I was going about 5 MPH in a parking garage. Is there any possible link between a misfire and VSA? Is it coincidence?
I saw the other threads on diagnosing misfiring, but what about VSA?
Thanks!

Had the same issue as you for about a year now. I would follow the misfire thread, I have no idea why it pops up the VSA and caution light when a misfire happens. But my problem ended up being bad compression on cyl 1 which lead to my valves not being properly seated.
I don't want to scare you but that's probably the worse situation you can expect if you get a misfire. My head had to come off and it had to be rebuilt and put back together and all that good stuff.
There's a great DIY on the forums about compression test and you can rent the tool from autozone to do the test. But if it does end up being low compression you might just need a valve adjustment instead of having to rebuild the head.
Have you ever over revved the engine? mis shift or anything like that?

I had the same symptoms with my 07. The check engine light and the VSA light came on. Also the idle was rough. I brought it to the local Honda dealer and they found a misfire on cylinder 3. They swapped coils but the misfire remained on #3. The mechanic checked the valves and found that they needed adjustment. Luckily I got the extended warranty. She's been running like a champ ever since.
