I guess one could tap the filter on the table a few times, to see what falls out of it — before using the filter. This sure won't leave a "warm & fuzzy" feeling after changing the oil.

I can assure you that the dark in color tadpole/spider-spherical shaped ones are very hard. For sure came from the spot welding of that spring fixture. Out of my selection that I had on hand, Id say its 50/50 on whether they were loose in the filter and just barely stuck down. The slag that was stuck would break away using a can of compressed air for cleaning electronics for example. The tip of the “tails” of the tadpole shapes ones were the only point of them being bonded, if they were at all.

Excellent! Going to pick up some parts tomorrow from the dealer as well as some filters I had on order. I hope they are clean as well! Im glad that there hasnt been anymore found.

I think we need to find an aftermarket alternative that has consistent quality and exceeds OEM specs. There's gotta be one out there.

Even if such incidents wind up being limited to only those few filters that you purchased, you would have no way of knowing without bringing it up here. It is far better to raise awareness among the S2KI community rather than simply ignoring such matters. The rest of us might be out the little bit of additional time it takes to inspect each filter, but that sure beats any potential downsides. I’ve honestly never inspected my oil filters in the past. Adding this one additional step to my routine before proceeding with an oil change isn’t a big deal. Thanks for taking the time to post up your findings.

One of the filters is “B1Z22” and the other is “B1409”. I have the others too but I will have to dig them out. The labels also have a date code as well. At least thats what I was told by an employee at a dealership. Filter “B1409” has “KB1E28” on the Honda part # sticker. “B1Z22” had “KB2D19” on its label.
