Default Weak Fuses?

I have tried to put some neon lights in my car for looks, and I have blown two fuses by doing so. I have spliced power from the defroster, and from the cigarette lighter, both fuses blew within 1 minute. In my wifes Celica, I have been able to splice 4 of the same lights off of the same power source. What is the problem? What can be done aside from splicing right from the battery?

Have you considered using one of the 3 empty power taps in the under dash fuse panel? There are 3 male spade connectors on one side of the fuse panel. 1 is hot with ignition, 1 is hot all the time, 1 is hot with the dash lights. I suggest you take the one that comes on with ignition. Make sure you still have an inline fuse after this tap. This power supply is not shared with anything else that's stock. I have my radar detector on this one as well as my gauges.
