Has anyone just tried to see if they could find a slightly thicker O-ring that would possibly give it a tighter seal. I can't recall if my 05 did it.

That's another good idea. I work in a hydraulic shop, so sourcing an o-ring shouldn't be hard

I haven't seen my dipstick pop out at all. Maybe use Steve's idea and do the o-ring trick

I don't get how that much pressure builds with an open breather port. Obviously it does, but I don't get it. Seems like random cars do it.

Its a combination of things - oil on the o-rings, pressure, engine vibration, lack of friction basically. The bend idea puts tension on the dipstick to stay seated, and its quick and free.
