Default Window Auto Down starting to fail

first problem I've really had with my S

The Auto-Down window on the drivers side is not going all the way down once and awhile. Seems to be only in the cold.

I know another owner told me his started doing this in the cold, then it started doing it all the time.

Anyone know what needs to be fixed? I have extended warranty so I can get this looked at, or is it just a cleaning of the switch or something that needs to be done.

You have a few options.
1. Honda has a TSB for this. They replace your window regulator (big bucks) under warranty.
2. You can try a "re-program" of the window reg.
-with car ON, lower window and hold button till you hear a click (takes up to 20 seconds).
-raise window and hold till you hear a click.
-turn ignition OFF, turn back on.
This should be a temporary fix at best. Some guys have reported this fixes the problem for a day or less. Some report this to work for months.
3. Install an "AutoLoc" device. This will give you both auto "down" and auto "up". I did this when mine went. This device costs about 50 bucks. Do a Google search to find it.

Well it still works, IE when it doesn't go down I can push the button and it will go down. But when operating the top it might or might not go all the way down.

If Honda has a TSB that's probably my best bet. Although the window doesn't do it all the time so it's hard to prove. My car is finally out of the 3-60 warranty but I have until 2008 160k for my extended. Hopefully this is convered under extended it will surely go next summer.

The "auto down" feature is a separate function, so holding the button to make it go down doesn't mean much. The auto down feature is also tied to the top function.
Try just the auto down feature without the top and I'm sure you'll find that sometimes it will work and sometimes it won't. Once this thing starts to go, it will only get worse. It will be shorter and shorter intervals between malfunctions.

My driver side window started to do the exact same thing last year. Had it replaced in november of 2004. My dealer didnt say anything about it being TSB, said it was the firts S with this kind of problem. Mine was suppoesedly out of warranty(car model year was 2001, but purchase date was dec. 2000 so they wouldn't acknowledge the warranty, took them to BBB and got them to pay at least half). Same problems as you are explaining. Just as the other people on the post have said, it will only get worse. sometimes even with you holding it down it will hesitate. I felt like an idiot everytime I put the top down and my driver side would stop half way. Made me feel real COOL...

Never looked into purchasing after market auto down feature. This may save you lots of money. I think the retail on the driver side regulator is close to like $500.00 i think? I will have to double check but something like that, its been a year since I replaced. Havn't had one problem yet.
