Default Wiring up the Yellow Box

In anticipation of the 4.44 rear gear set install, I've obtained a Yellow Box and am trying to figure out the easiest way of wiring it into the speedo connections. The Helm manual is not much help.

My best guess would be to tap in where the wires come out of the connector to the sensor on the transmission case. But knowing that others have already done this, I thought I might save myself some agony by asking first.

I tapped in next to the ECU. No long wires.

To tell the truth guys I believe all that is needed is a resistor because the speedo is basically a voltage meter. So if someone was to find out the correct type of resistor then I believe people wouldn't need this yellow box stuff and anymore wiring other then slicing a single wiring and placing a resistor between the ends... Has anyone taken apart of a "yellow box" before?

That is not how it works at all. The speed sensor sends pulses. The yellow box is a pulse divider. For instance, at 60 MPH, the speed sensor may put out 10K pulses per second. The yellow box allows incremental changes, via dip switches, to correct that to 9XXX pules per second.

Rick, if you search for "jenner" and "yellow box", you will find instructions on which wire near the ECU to splice into. On my car (with DRL's), jenner's instructions will not work so I spliced into the actual speedo wire off the tranny case and ran the twin wires up toward the motor and through the firewall. The other two wires are simply hot and ground. My Yellow Box lives just inside the kick panel.

i installed mine at the sensor by the tranny. The unit is pretty sealed up and protected. It's all the same, I found it easier to install there since all the wires you need are there.
