Default Would you buy AEM EMS?

Is the AEM EMS worth the extra money over a regular V-AFC? Is the tuning process more or less involved? I've never been a fan of AEM's products, but from what I've read and heard, this is a nice upgrade. I do have a leased car, and I'm a little worried about tuning. Are there any reccommendations other than this ECU for tuning the car? Any feedback would be appreciated.

The differences between a V-AFC and an EMS are similar to the differences between a CAI and a Turbo. If you're not running FI then you have no need for the EMS. In fact, 90% of the S2000s running FI don't even need the EMS. It's expensive, it's complicated, it can be a pain in the but, but...it is capable of doing a lot (for FI cars).

Yeah the VAFC and EMS are 2 entirely different animals. If you choose to go the AEM route be sure you have an idea on tuning a car or atleast get a reputable AEM shop to do it

99% of the installs are on FI applications. We have SC's making 300+ WHP and turbos making 400+ whp on the EMS...it all just depends on what you are running as your FI and your motor. I don't know anyone currently running the EMS on a NA S2000...although it has been done.

HamS2000 was, and said he got ~30 hp out of it, if I remember correctly.

I think its worth it, but only if you want to spend even more money to get it tuned by a professional.

I had read an article about a top speed run that an 02 S2000 had made in, I think, car and driver. They claimed to be making all-motor dyno pulls of over 250 rwhp. Not may major modifications were done other than I/H/E, port and polished head, and an AEM EMS. That why I asked this question. I believe they were using a higher octane fuel as well.

From what I read on the AEM EMS I can't say enough about it. I'm planning on a serious NA build up and I'm willing to go the extreme route of using the EMS and having it professinally tuned. For the extra money I think it is comlpetly worth it and besides who said modifing a car was a cheap hobby.
