The service manager wasn't the only one without a clue, we had to clue you in as well.
Not sure what that's supposed to mean? Was it an insult or dig on the OP? Nobody expects someone that comes in here asking a question to have an answer about the mechanical workings of a car.. but when you take your car to the service department of a HONDA dealership, you'd expect them to have an idea about what the problem is... considering they're supposed to be "mechanics", and also since this particular problem is well-known and well-understood and PUBLISHED IN A BULLETIN PROVIDED TO EVERY HONDA DEALER IN THE COUNTRY!!!

It's not like it was some far-fetched issue that had never been seen before.

Well he did say this "it appears to come from the center area "no shit" and he suggested it was the heat shield vibrating (honda post says it can be mistaken as heat shield vibration) and then he wanted me to pay to have it put on a lift, and then......thats not even fixing it, just to pay to know what it is. The man knows what it is, he wants to get money out of me, when i go back to my oil change, im gonna let them know what happened, and give em a "piss on you" for being morons. Its a COMMON problem for my year of s2k, and he didnt even mention clutch, just wanted me to pay to find out "what" it was.

print this

Ask the service manager if he knows about TSB 00-054. If he doesn't, show him the page you printed and casually walk away. I would find someone else to change your oil.

You could drive your car for another 20k miles, and then change the clutch later. The updated disk number is in the TSB.

Yep, "Nothing shouts incompetence as much as basic spelling errors." (Courtesy of collegejournal.com. From a piece on resume preparation, job interviews, et al.)
