Ya know, I was really optimistic about the newer Fords ... but they better get this stuff straightened out. They are having a lot of issues. This just after the recall for the frickin steering wheels coming loose!

I have never owned or been a fan of Ford.

This would not even be an issue if they still made pick-ups with manual transmissions, as is only proper.

From Ford's recall notice:
"This could allow the driver to move the shifter to park and remove the ignition key, while the transmission gear may not be in park, with no instrument panel warning message or warning chime when the driver's door is opened that indicates the vehicle is not secured in park. If the parking brake is not applied, this could result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of injury or crash."

My old 2000 Accord V6 had a similar problem. You could forget to move the transmission into park but still turn the ignition switch to "off" and remove the key. No warnings of any kind.

After the police came knocking at my front door asking if that was my car in the middle of the street (it was), I decided to address the issue. After getting a quote from the dealer on fixing the problem I addressed it with a post-it note on the dash reading "PARK, stupid!"

Even with that problem, I thought I would miss the Accord more than I do.

Wow, sure glad I got a Ridgeline instead of a Ford 150

I had a Ford Fairmont that did the same thing and your Post-it note was basically what ford sent out as a fix! Fix Or Repair Daily!
