Default Applecare spam phone call

I just got a recorded phone call supposedly from Applecare warning me that there is suspicious activity in my account, not to use any Apple device that I own, and with a number to call. I hung up on it believing it to be spam. I got the call twice more. When I googled it was confirmed that it was a spam call coming from Pakistan.

If you get a call from Applecare with advice to call 800-275-2275 hang up immediately. Apple will not call you regarding activity on your account.

Here is a link to MacFinesse talking about both Applecare scams.

I got a call about 10 days ago from "Verizon", my cell phone provider, on my cell phone. The guy said they had sent an email that I had not responded to. I was going to have a service interruption in the near future and they would give me a $25 credit for each line. Then he reads off my home address and my email address. He had not asked for anything from me at that point, but he was hard to hear, and I figured if Verizon was going to give me a credit they should just do it. And I was at the car wash and almost ready to get in the car and drive off. So I got a bit huffy with him and said something like Look I don't have time to talk right now, I'm busy. He immediately hung up without another word. I called Verizon later and they said it was phony. It sure sounded legit, these a**holes are getting better at it.

I get them too, I hang up on them. I can't believe how gullible people are especially older folks who get these scumbag calls. One person thought it was a call from the IRS and gave out their personal information.

I had a package from FEDEX for my son. He had not ordered anything. Opened it an there were Two iPhones valued at $2,000. He has never had a Verizon account. Alerted Verizon and their fraud department got involved. They did have last four of his social but listed an outlook email address he never used. Need to take the phones into a Verizon Store and get a receipt for them. He has now locked down his credit.
