The Computer Corner
I just downloaded a nice little free program called TreeSize which tells you what folders by size are filling the space on your system so you can do some house cleaning.
I discovered nearly 20% of my hard drive is in the folder C/windows/temp. Looking in there, there are hundreds of subfiles. Stupid me, I would think that kind of stuff should delete itself when some limit is reached. Can anyone give me some proper guidence on how to safely empty this stuff. Keep in mind I am NO computer geek, so it's safe to assume I don't anything on how to do this.

This happens when some programs don't properly clean up after themselves. Windows can't automatically clean up because it can't assume that some files are not needed. Some programs, especially Install programs, may need those files after a reboot.
(Being a Windows programmer, I HATE it when programs don't clean up their do-do....

Ah, thanks for reminding me.
Go for the brute force method -- open the folder, press "Ctrl" and "A" at the same time to "select all", and then press "Shift" and "Delete".
You will probably get an error message that says that one or more of the files is in use, that's okay. Just deselct that file (with all files/folders highlighted, hold the "Ctrl" key while single-clicking with the left mouse button on that file) and press "Shift" and "Delete" again. Repeat as needed.

I tried the brute force method but cancelled it when I did not get any error message. It wanted to send all 4,200 files to the wastebasket, so that made me chicken out.
I then thought I would try Jonas' approach but I don't see where I have an option to sort by date. To pull up the WINDOWS/TEMP folder I used Windows Explorer.

I've been getting messages lately that my C drive is approaching max storage. It prompts me to delete whatever. I always check the Internet temp files box and delete them. That solves the problem - temporarily...

The brute force method and mine are basically the same; I just don't even try to delete stuff with today's date on it. That way I know I won't screw anything up, not that there's much chance of that even with the brute force approach.

As the Nike commercial says: "Just do it."

When ever I log in to s2ki the server triggers a "syn port attack" alert on my McAfee firewall. Anyone have any ideas as to why?
