Default Concrete Staining

I am thinking of staining my basement floor. I have been researching for various techniques, and feel the water based stain process would be easier, less harmful, and more forgiving than acid staining.

Does anyone have experience with staining concrete, dos, don'ts, pictures???

I'm going to watch this thread
I have wanted to stain the big 10' x 25' concrete slab that makes up the floor of my front porch, back porch, and entrance way

Something like this would make me soooooooooo happy

And I mean the color, I would not want that much of a polished glossy smooth surface because part of it is exterior, as in it gets rain water on it
I just like the random sort of color variation, in a nice warm brown, instead of the cold grey

We used the water based stain on the floor in the poolhouse back in 2004. It's held up very well. We used painter's tape to make it look like tile and applied the stain with a paint roller. The surface isn't slick at all.

Triple H, I just finished staining my deck today. I believe that it is the very same color. The problem is the fumes, they're very strong, almost overwhelming.

I like that idea. We have a screened in porch that I've wanted to do something to the cement. My issues are two fold. One the cement is too smooth for my liking in places; ie, it can be slippery when wet or icy. And two, it has outside exposure year round; meaning there are times when I have to shovel or blow snow out of it. I never come up with any idea that I thought would work.

You could try mixing in some builder's sand with the stain. It dries pretty quickly though in hot weather.
