Lainey, Verizon does seem to be better with FIOS, and I agree with you, their DSL support is as bad as Comcast, but FIOS has their own support group.

Well, 9 hours have past since the Comcast supervisor committed to have someone contact me after 4 hours. I tried calling back with the case # this a$$hole provided and all I could get was a recording stating that a service technician would be here on Sat between 8-10AM so press 1 for confirmation. I'm back to square one. I have actually had good service once the tech gets here but the BS in getting that accomplished is insane. There are some Comcast techs roaming the neighborhood maybe I should slip one a few bucks to come to my house. Some of the options mentioned here are tempting and I am ready to switch now.

After years of intermittent service, terrible customer service, and increasingly higher cost, I've signed up for U-Verse for $30 less a month with more channels, twice the internet speed, and a $350 gift card. I have no idea if AT&T will be any better but my neighbors around me all have ditched TW and I believe I will be doing the same.
I never heard of U-verse. Is it available here.

I will start off by saying that I absolutely hate Comcast. Not getting a picture on the TV's and called their 800 number. Talked to some guy in India who went through the turn off/turn on, resend signal and check connections ritual with no success. He set up an appointment for Wed. Got a confirmation call and confirmed it. Got a message Wed. that the appointment was cancelled for no reason. Called again and got some woman from Costa Rica and she set up an expedited appointment for today between 8-10AM. No show at Noon. Called again and got a guy who speaks English I can understand. He says no appointment was put into the system for today and he could have someone here on Saturday. I f"ing lost it with this guy and asked to talk to a supervisor. Supervisor put in an expedited order that expires in 4 hours. After 4 hours I should get a call to see what my status is. Can you believe this. What a PIA as now we have to hang around for the call back. Got this jerk to give me a case # like that will do any good. Verizon is coming to our area soon (FIOS) and as soon as they do Comcast is history. I have had no problems with Verizon service on our cells.

You had me at "I absolutely hate Comcast." Now they have a "buy" option for on-demand movies. they mix it in with the rent menu and it is easy to "buy" by mistake. I had to fight to get the charge taken off my account.
Yea Bill, I almost got sucked into that one too. I order movies through Apple, no games and it is less money.

They are all just varying degrees of suck. I have to deal with all of the providers on a regular basis because my clients are in all different territories. FiOS by Verizon or ATT, cable by TW or Comcast or Charter, DSL by Verizon or ATT, third party providers like cBeyond, etc. They all have their issues. I have seriously hated the transitions that are being forced onto many of my clients right now by ATT. Several of these forced migrations have gone very, very poorly. And yet others have been fine and the end result has been acceptable (I still hate the ATT router/modem they force onto you with U-verse, but that's another story...).

Basically, none of them are ever truly great.

No, ATT is not a carrier in Delaware, at least not that I have heard of.

My advice is stay away from U-verse. Just google it for more horror stories than you can shake a stick at. When I moved my office 3 blocks and tried to hook up to AT&T DSL again, they said it wasn't available ( a big LIE) and I'd have to go to U-Verse. I chose Comcast, and the guy that hooked me up was an independent that also hooked up ppl for U-Verse. He said that more than half the ppl he installed it for had him back to uninstall it within months.

I upgraded to the X1 DVR. At the same time dropped all the movie channels since we seldom found anything on HBO, Cinamax, etc. worth watching. We had their Premier package for 7 years and it seemed like every year we watched less. Saved $700/year going to the Preferred package for $160+fees. So it should be about $165/mo and still that's $15 less per month than what we were paying in 2007 when we had separate providers for tv, phone, and internet.

That is what we have Dave. Same price and it is fine. If I want to watch movies I use my Apple TV set up. My wife gets to watch Hallmark and I get to watch the car shows. Other than sports, news, favorite tv shows we are good to go.

You know I love X1. I was really in the stone age with regular Xfinity. Just so many cool features in X1. I was shocked at the difference. The +1 really likes it, too.
