Be careful! It is very hard to be in a bar/tavern while trying to quit. Try not to

Good luck!

Rick didn't have issue with not smoking and He planned to give up only one vice!

Mike, if they smoke at the tavern, carry around a little fan, blow any smoke back at them, tell them they are obnoxious with the smoking, and let them know are now one of those annoying non smokers.

Continued smoke free days for you!

When my oldest brother was forty-one he went in for elective surgery to have his gall bladder removed at the advise of his doctor, because he was having repeated episodes of gall stones. The day after his surgery he had a respiratory failure that triggered a myocardial infarction (heart attack). Due to the lack of oxygen he suffered brain damage and was in a coma for ten days.

While he was in ICU a friend of his came to visit. She was a smoker and asked me what that brown stuff in the jar was? When I told her it was the "crap" they were suctioning out of his lungs. She almost ran out of the ICU and NEVER lit up another cigarette.

So, if you need some added incentive visit your local hospital and ask to see what it looks like when the suction the lungs of a smoker. That should do it.

Keep up the fight.

Day 18.

If weeks were only six days long I'd be starting week four.

OK...just to be clear, Lainey, I will be playing pool...in a pool league...in a bar...in South Mississippi. If'n I start blowing a fan in someone's face with one of those little battery powered fans I won't have to worry about smoking until my jaw is unwired. If I start fluttering around with an old fashioned hand fan I will be drummed out of the league for a lack of manliness. There are women in this league but even they are quite manly.

Actually, I am not all that worried about tonight. The host bar always provides plenty of food. And I am not prepared to get on here tomorrow and post a message of failure.

No FAIL. Only WIN.

I am not all that worried about a beer or two triggering an irresistable urge. Having regained some of my long lost sense of smell I've discovered that beer tasts even better than I thought! Now if I switch to coffee, I will have to really keep my guard up.

The first thing Rick noticed was an improved sense of smell. That is not always a good thing.

Have fun tonight!

Wow...you DO have an emoticon for EVERY occasion!

But I believe you are supposed to hit the white ball first. That seems to be the custom in our league.

I just ran across that one recently. I knew I had seen it along the way.

the white ball is the one you hit first. However, if I was playing, all bets are off.

Way to go Mike.....

I quit 15+ years ago..... best thing I ever did... you really start noticing different things after a while....

Scents.... flavors... etc.

Kathy's son is like 5 months into his quitting.....

Hang in there, it gets easier as time passes.

Keep it up, Mike. My target date is Thursday. I've done this before so I know that I just have to keep trying.
