Replacing the old pc and I hate it
Oops, yep another pitfall. I aleady had full Outlook on my old machine and bought a new copy with the new PC. Full m/s Office is not all that expensive for a big spender like you.

Now Mom needs a new computer. I'm looking at a couple of Dell's. One at Best Buy, one directly from Dell. She doesn't need all the bells and whistles, no photo storage, etc.
I might need to make a quick decision as her current computer is really acting up, and Mom doesn't like to be without her AOhell.

My current 3-year old Dell desktop has started freezing up sporadically and last night I got the dreaded BSOD. I had a feeling this was going to happen, so last week, ignoring everyone's (including my own!) advice, I ordered this HP computer. It is to be delivered Friday. I really need a dependable computer, since I am the treasurer of our neighborhood association and I have to get the annual dues bills out soon, plus I still consult occasionally from home. Hoping I made the right decision.

AOhell is still in business? What is their dialup (lack of) service going for these days?
I'm not sure I can even find a disc to load the program, but found a link to AOL desktop. My sister recently downloaded that to her net book and all the mail, etc., was the same as previous versions, which mom prefers vs. using Internet explorer with AOL.com as a home page.
I'm proud of Mom for even being on line and enjoying the computer. This is a woman who used to say she retired from her job "just in time, as the computers were coming in."
Yet, she is almost 89, and if she'd rather surf the web using AOL, I'll do my best to make it easy for her. I hope the transition goes smoothly, otherwise I'll be getting a lot of phone calls.

What do you mean ignoring your own advice? Refresh my memory please.

I wish I could get my mom to have more interest in the computer, but it doubt it's going to happen.
While he was ill, and they were home more often, Mom started using the computer. She bought her current Dell about seven years ago. It has served her well. She uses it everyday. She likes to play cards and games, she plays some games on line and keeps in touch with family and friends by email, she read news etc.
I'm glad to help her out.
