I know the feeling Deb. I have a scan and an MRI week after next. I get a bit claustrophobic, but found if they cover my face it's easier for me.

No MRI without valium. My second MRI for my shoulder was so unpleasant. Had to move me in out a couple times, reposition the shoulder/arm. I had been given valium but it wasn't enough. The next time I needed an MRI I told my doc I wasn't driving myself, I didn't care if they had to pour me into the MRI machine. He upped the dose. No issue.
Hope all is well, Deb.

Good luck to you as well, Dean.

There was no getting out and maybe just doing one or two and the last later. I took two Valium beforehand and another one right before the test. The radiologist came in a few times to talk to me and encourage me to stick it out. The first time she said I had only been in there for 20 min! Not good news at all. I was fairly certain I was going to have to abort. So she talked to me a couple more times, and finally said I only had 10 min left. I was shocked. Turns our I had dosed off a lot more than I thought. I was very thankful to make it through. Would not like another one but at least I have a good idea now what works for me to get through it.
Wow, two hours . . . damn I would be climbing the walls. Sure hope it is nothing too serious Deb.

I don’t mind MRIs but two hours would drive me up a wall. Hope everything is ok.

I asked her if if I could do like one and come back because I was getting stiff from holding the position for so long. Nope...she said if I bailed the whole test would have to be repeated. I think because I was having contrast and she had to take advantage of that while the dye was in. There should be a better way. My tests were so long because of the detail required in the films. Also, it was an older machine so no music. When I made the appts I was told 1 hr 40 min. Then when I called about the drug dosage I was told 1 hr 10 min. Much better. Then when I got there she told me it was actually the original 1 hr 40. My anxiety had already been pretty high for the previous 10 days after making the appt, so it was all I could do not to bag it before it started. Needless to say, I am much more relaxed tonight.

Another thing was the mask. She told me I should keep it on because of the ventilation in the room not being the best. I said no way and took it off. I had also read that there are open MRIs and asked her about those. She said the tests take longer and for various reasons would recommend against it. My thing was not being able to see out. For these, I could look down (without moving) and see the room a bit which helped. And the machine was not as close to my face as I expected. So a couple of positives.

By the time I decided to let mine go, it was time. Everytime it rained I had to go out with a hair dryer and dry the distributor so it would start but it was a real joy to drive and I have happy memories. I learned early on to always park facing down a hill just in case I had to roll off to start it. Yep, lots of happy memories.

I had no idea MRI entailed so much. I hope all will turn out well for you.
