How far south? I might be able to make it, depending on where it is.
Savannah is nice that time of the year. Who needs to stare at a bunch of dead leaves anyway?
Yeah, I could make that.

Catherine, the Dragon is quite the road, from what we hear.

It's a bit too far for us, but for you folks from Michigan, it's probably only 2-3 hours.
Lainey, you may be a bit geographically challenged when it comes to this time/distance thing.

Note to self: Never piss off the CO.

My thought would be to move the Fall event a bit south and/or west. We have had plenty of events in the far northeast over the past 12 months. We should really be fair to folks and try to move events around a bit.

Advanced planning and trying to determine the geographic center is the key in my play book. That should be based on a very advanced poll of people that would realistically attend the event.

My thought on having SF07 for example in the Danville area is that we could attract some folks from NC/SC/GA/FL/Al/KY/TN

Just my .02

Good thought. the South Carolina coast is at its best in October/November. It's the peak of shrimp season, temps in the 70's and abundant sunshine -- hurricanes are mostly done by then. Great golf, but not much in the way of interesting roads.

, even if Jim was there.

I'd vote for Lake George again. I really liked it up there. But I'm up for damn near anything.
I know that the fokes that own the RainTree would love to have us back. On the other hand, we will have Phil as our built in "security guard" in the parking lot watching over our cars.

As much as I enjoyed last year. It is a hike for us. But whereever the geogprahic center turns out that is where we will be.

If the Fall event is intended to be a 'big' one then I agree it should be further south (how about south Jersey)?

But if it is intended to be smaller, then maybe there should be multiple events held at the same time. This way local people in each region could get together and then we can all share the experiences. Just a thought.
I would like to propose a Vintage Fall Gathering in Cape May, NJ. It was one of the 'also rans' in our earlier SF discussions about a year ago. The Victorian architecture and (relatively) unspoiled seashore is also an attraction. Other attractions are a bird sanctuary, light house at Cape May Point, and a couple wineries (a recurring theme )

I am willing to help Rob with the planning, and have also received a PM from another willing local Vintage member (who wishes to remain anonymous at the moment). I led an S2000 drive along the south coast of NJ a few years ago, but a drive up to Atlantic City would also be an option

Nominated: CAPE MAY- October 13/ 14/ 15- 2006

This is about 6 hours from Boston and Pittsburgh; a similar distance from Roanoke; 4 hours from DC area. Research for a HQ hotel would have to take place very promptly b/c the autumn is a popular time at Cape May.

What do YOU think of this idea?

I also like Jim's idea of one or more additional gatherings on the same weekend....say central Georgia and central Ohio

Just let me know where and when and I'll probably buy some airplane tickets, again.

Matt, we will lie to folks to get them to attend meets. Bill started it.

We won't cheat or steal, but we will lie.
