Jerry, it is an area we'd like to see, BUT isn't it a rather congested area such as Cape Cod can be, especially on a holiday weekend? Would it be hard to find accomodations and move about as a group?
Cape May is not congested in October. I know a charming B & B in SeaGirt that would welcome us. I'd be glad to work with Jerry (and whoever else) on an October New Jersey meet.

Valentine: I think VIR has a "hotel" on site. Otherwise there is nothing in the immediate area. There are hotels/motels on Route 50 in the center of Danville - which is about 15-20 miles west of the track. Slightly rolling terrain close to the track, whcih is essentially in rural NC. I've been there in August each of the last 4 years - but we camp. There are also some neat roads west of Roanoke in WV. Me thinks Charlottesville is a good 3 hrs + away from VIR.
For what it is worth from a weather stand point. Geoghapically Cape May is much further south than it sounds. Here is a good sucker "bar bet". Cape May is farther south in latitude than the northern most tip of the District of Columbia.

This is about 6 hours from Boston and Pittsburgh; a similar distance from Roanoke; 4 hours from DC area. Research for a HQ hotel would have to take place very promptly b/c the autumn is a popular time at Cape May.

Cape May is South of the Mason Dixon Line.
The Mason-Dixon Line is on the border of Pennsylvania/Maryland. To cross the Mason-Dixon you'd need to come south quite a bit further than NEW JERSEY. Note the following from the Columbia University Press Encyclopedia: "Mason-Dixon Line, boundary between Pennsylvania and Maryland (running between lat. 39

Nice Phil.
I think you had the last word at WG, so I had to get one last jab in. You know it's done out of love
.Anyways, I'm up for anywhere up to, say, 9 hours away from me. But couldn't we figure out a semi-central point for everybody involved? (except for Patty, of course
) We need an official Vint map with everyone on it. Who's the map wizard here?
