A charming B & B? Just tell me I don't have to share a bathroom with anyone but Rick and it just might work for us too.

I'm not using any shower that you use!!!

If shared bathrooms are involved in any meet, I'll find a hotel nearby.

The Mason-Dixon Line is on the border of Pennsylvania/Maryland. To cross the Mason-Dixon you'd need to come south quite a bit further than NEW JERSEY. Note the following from the Columbia University Press Encyclopedia:

Matt, we will lie to folks to get them to attend meets. Bill started it.
We won't cheat or steal, but we will lie.

I did some checking into Cape May/Wildwood when we were voting on the SF location. Lots of B&Bs there, but they are not very big. Finding a block of rooms can be a problem. But you who live in/have travelled to that area know more about it than I do.

B&Bs tend to be smaller since most are converted Victorian homes. The Jersey shore has been a draw since Victorian times and the Victorian Hotel/Inn is much more prevalent than larger B&B.
I would avoid Wildwood, but that's just my opinion.
Rob, Sea Girt is much closer to NYC than it is to Cape May.

As to the above post by MsP, as much as I'd love it if everyone could come to my hometown for a meet I'd be hardpressed to be able to make a decision about a hotel/motel/b&b location. Its very, very difficult to decide a place/space/entertainment, etc. for a group of even 10, let alone 40 or more. Some of us (
I have to include me) are quite spoiled and by the time we reach vintage age, pretty decided on what kind of comfort or lack thereof we'd like in the way of accommodations. Some like tracks, some like spirited mountain drives, some like to just tour. In thinking ahead to SF07, I've wracked my brain trying to think about Ch'ville or Danville or anyplace in Virginia that I frequent and I've no clue how to even begin to think about a nice place with reasonable rates where the group could stay, how to entertain those who don't want to drive, what to do in the evenings, etc. Even though I travel to both of these cities with some frequency, Jim and I are into art, museums, historic ventures, etc. and those would bore some of you to tears. We love to visit an occasional winery and we simply enjoy the atmosphere of Thomas Jefferson's chosen hometown. We love to drive up Afton Mountain (AMAZING), visit the little towns all along the way and dine in nifty little charming local restaurants, but that's not a group thing and that's simply our taste which we would not want to inflict on anyone else. With all that being said, kudos to ANY of you who plan these events, kudos to ANY of you who are willing to step up to the plate and choose an agenda, a place to go, etc. Meanwhile, I'll be happy to assist anyone who wishes to plan something near me, but I honestly don't think there's a how-to book on planning a tour for the S2kI group. I could certainly take you on a spirited jaunt from Lynchburg through Amherst County up to Nelson and Albemarle or a spirited jaunt from Lynchburg over to Rockbridge County and Lexington, or many other jaunts that I really enjoy. There are great travelling roads in Appomattox County and of course, there's the civil war battlefield and the Surrender Grounds National Park that's great for a little visit, but these things are so commonplace to me that I even forget about them being there.
