Dave, since you aren't keeping it original, put in a 5 main with the all-synchro box. You have to make up a cross member for it, but the cross member will also strengthen the car.

Not sure I would bother with the overdrive. That would depend on my intended use. I would certainly upgrade to front disc brakes with the higher output engine.
B suspension mods & discs are definitely in the plan.
