A thread for the rest of us
Wow, this topic has wound all over the place.
First I will break the rule and introduce politics because this morning on the news they did a story about a new candidate and I am going to vote for her. Barbi! She'll be perfect because she won't do anything. (remember the Mark Twain quote about when congress in in session?)
Well I am not going to fall colors because it's on the wrong coast. Unfortunately, except for a few trees and the grape leaves, fall isn't that colorful around here. But it is pretty when it starts raining and everything greens up.
So this weekend I am winterizing my Seadoo, trimming trees and visiting my sister down from Oregon. I may tune in the ballgame just to see if anybody leans out over the field and catches fly balls. OOPs, no jinx, I didn't say that.
Dean, you have too many degrees. I think you shoud give a couple back.. And pray tell, what is Philosophy of Biology? I'm going to stop arguing with you on any topic. You also stated where you have lived, but where are you now? Is Fruitland Park a real place?
I hope all attending FC have a great time.

You're probably right about being over educated, but I don't plan on giving any back. My failing memory is taking care of that on its own.Judging from your posts I doubt that we'll ever argue (A wise man once said that debate is an exchange of knowledge, and an argument is an exchange of ignorance), but don't stop debating me just because of few degrees. The truth is that the scope of my knowledge is highly specialized and very narrow. I plan to learn more and more about less and less, so I'll eventually end up knowing nothing about everything.

Philosophy of Biology is something of a misnomer, there isn't a single philosophy within science. What I would have been covering in a class would have been areas of Philosophy such as Ethics, Epistemology, etc. as they relate to biology research and advances past, present, and future.
Fruitland Park is a real place, I didn't make it up.
It is a very small town about forty miles Northwest of Orlando.Dean
So, Dean, you aren't too far from my parents (Spring Hill). Cool. We'll do lunch or drinks or something next time I'm there (well, maybe not...they've just stopped treating my Grandma's cancer with chemo and are putting her on hospice and my Mom is going through a workup with the end result being removal of part of her liver for a cancerous tumor of the bile duct, so it may be hectic and not a very happy time.....or maybe that's the best time to get out for a little bit!).
Morris, step away from the beer - it's way too early for you to be drinking already. Barbie.....no way....well, okay, if it were between Barbie and Ralph Nader, I guess I'd go with Barbie (she apparently has too many degrees, too).

I'm starting to think the vintage group should have a winter meet in Florida. It may not include cars,,,
Flts, I will always remember the stories about how people covered in paint died because their poors were clogged by the paint. Is that true? If so, how do you body paint people and avoid health problems?

Hey, Tenblades - how come you have a North Texas S2K badge? Did you do med school here?

Since we're on the subject of trips, is anyone interested in attending this next August? http://www.mainelobsterfestival.com/
We've already reserved our hotel rooms, arranged for a dogsitter, etc..
I grew up (or simply got older to hear some people tell it) in the Rockland area, and I haven't been to the Maine Lobster Festival since I was a kid. We won't be able to take the S because we're taking my mother as a birthday present, and she flat out refuses to ride in the trunk.

Hmm what will I do this weekend. Well since I declared a boycott on watching the World Series (I didn't watch the last 2 ALCS games) I will be getting my daily beater and yard ready for the winter.
I would of still endured the trip to FC this year if there were a few more folks going from NE. This was too long a trip for one person to do. A caravan would of made all the better. I got to put my hands together for Rick and his buddies in assembling such a great adventure. I sadly will miss it.
Florida is always nice in the spring. I was there early this spring in Tampa. Next spring will be hard to get down there, too many family and work events.

Orlando? I thought you were still in Texas, Dean. Oh well, sounds like you have been all over the place. I was born in Wichita, lived in So. Cal., now No. Cal. with 14 months in South Korea years ago. Thanks for the info on Philosophy and Bio- now I get it.
Legal Bill, please answer what kind of law you practise.
Didn't the lady in Goldfinger die because she was completely painted? Aren't you supposed to leave a patch at the base of the spine unpainted? (I get all my theories from movies.....)
