Bridgestone Potenza RE71R are loud, the reason I'm now running S04s in CR-size.

Are you using 16" wheels, or 17" wheels?

I'd personally get a set of OEM 17" "AP2" wheels as there are many more tire options and Honda adopted this wheel/tire size for handling, not styling. Seen good reports on reproduction "A2V1" wheels here from users of them despite "the sky is falling" predictions of non-buyers. Yeah, they're on Ebay and probably made in PRC. Get over it.

I'd stick with 16 inch. I have used 16 and 17. Both are fine. But, I prefer what I think is a slightly livelier feeling car on the street with 16 inch wheels and stock sized tires as opposed to bigger tires with more rubber on the road that some folks like. To each his own.

If you stick with the 16s you have many choices. The max performance tire choices for 16 include, Bridgestone Potenza S-02, Continental Extremecontact Sport and one other. I have a set of the Contis and I like them. There is also the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 in one performance category down that gets excellent reviews here and elsewhere. There are some extreme performance tires as well. Also, there are the all season options some of which are quite good. I have a set of the BR Goodrich G-Force Comp 2 and I like them a lot. Honestly for street they don't give up much at all the the max performance tires. I do not think the Michelin Super Pilots max performance tires, or the Bridgestone S-04 tires are available in 16s, but I could be wrong on that.

I'm guessing here but the profile of the 17 has to be lower which in the north with our potholes is an adventure.
Not a lot of rubber to protect those rims.

Since I'm in Colorado and my S is in California I can't look at the car to be sure but I think I have RE71s on my S and if I do I agree that they are loud! They're okay on dry rough pavement but wet spots or the smoother tarred parts of the road make them very noisy. I won't be buying them a second time.
