So far, just lite drizzle in Laguna Hills but it may be raining a lot harder at my house. Gene, a tractor drove up and down that hill for four hours back in 2009 so I hope that never happens again.

Burn areas are having slides. PCH just north of Malibu is closed (but they are used to that living there). It's raining pretty solidly. I only wish I didn't have to go to client sites in it. But I'm happy we are getting it. Supposed to have more tomorrow, so they are saying. And *possibly* more over the weekend.

We do need rain, but getting a lot all at once will cause some problems. It could be much worse though, so I'm not complaining.

^ Saw pics...looks nasty. Hope you survive the deluge. It has been wet here but no ice/snow due to above freezing temps. Yay...

This storm has given us 5 1/2 inches of rain so far. Two inches just last night, with thunder and lightning.

According to the LA Times SoCal was damaged somewhat, but remained relatively unscathed by their deluge of rain. Haven’t heard of any damage or misfortunes from our California members, so I’m assuming everything is okay with them.

Quite frankly, I hope the storm remnants make it to my front door in the form of rain or snow. Colorado’s mountains and front range needs the moisture.

gary

Aside from a leak in the ceiling at my office (roofers were out this morning to patch it), so far things have been fine for me.

Depending on where you are in LA, the rainfall from this storm has ranged from as low as half an inch to as high as 4.62". Near me, the LADWP real time rainfall maps are reporting 1.18". Downtown LA has gotten 1.53 so far. I can count myself lucky, I think. Had to be downtown yesterday afternoon. What is normally a 25 minute drive took me about an hour. GPS map was all lit up red for heavy traffic on all of the major routes. And it's not wise to stray far off the major routes in heavy rains here because our drainage systems get clogged up and the streets flood easily. Basically, we go so long without a rain that debris accumulates in the sewers. Then we get a rain and... well, you know how that goes. Plus it's Fall so the deciduous trees are dropping leaves and those aren't helping matters.

All in all though, not really too bad here so far.

The news reports for California are always overblown. The Pacific Coast Highway has landslides every year that closes part of the road, which runs from north to south, nearly the whole state. Yes, there are problems where fire has removed the vegetation, but since they can't pound us with drought, they'll throw mudslides down our throat. The rains we're having in the north part of the state couldn't be better, as they are being spread over days, letting streams have time to take away the runoff without overflowing, and giving the ground time to soak it in. For the most part, California is doing fine with the rains.

^Yep.

I've gotten some drizzle but not any hard rain and no thunder storms. I thought it was done this morning since the pavement was dry but the rain comes and goes. I love it. Last night I was out buying a Christmas tree between the raindrops. It's just so cool to see the pavement wet from nature. It's too rare for so Cal with the seven year drought.

No thunder here either, but we did have quite a bit of heavy rain. I think the heavier stuff was more up this direction and not as much in south OC.

It's been lighter this morning (it's drizzling right now) but it seems to come and go. Rained heavily again about 3 hours ago. Now it's just sprinkles and very grey.
