Thanks, Scooter. We will be using the panty hose application. At last a good use for panty hose!
Could you post pics, please, Lainey? I have never heard of this and am curious as to how it works.

for the record it works pretty well.
I might be doing it tonight since I'm getting tired of climbing up and busting the ice dams.

I used this method on my previous house and it works well.

We may wait another day. We had a fair amount of melting today. The ice melt someone picked up for Rick was a blend, the first ingredient was sodium chloride and we had been told to avoid sodium as that could be bad for shingles, etc? The amount of sodium chloride was not listed

The vendor I spoke to told me what she is selling is 70% calcium chloride and 30% sodium chloride. Does anyone know if that percentage of sodium should cause a concern?

Not sure about a mix but I thought this chart was pretty interesting.

Thanks, Mike!

21 degrees today, the sun is out. Maybe we'll get more melting. The snow on our roof is minimal. Fingers crossed that if/when more moisture comes forth from the sky, the gutters will be able to drain.

Thanks for sharing. I use calcium chloride and it does a good job.

According to our talking weather heads Denver could be expecting nearly 18” of snow this weekend. If so, we’ll try to keep it here where it’s needed and not send it eastward.
