Maybe BBM didn't win because it was essentially a remake of "Same Time Next Year." Both are respected movies but tow a strange morality of married people repeatedly cheating on their spouses yet being drawn in a positive light.

Well, Academy voters don't actually have to go to the theater to see the movies. They are supplied with screener versions of most (if not all) of the nominees.

The theory I heard on Crash was that since the voters are all industry people anyway, the voted for Crash because it had so many celebrities in the cast, each voter must have been a personal friend of someone.

It was the best of the nominated films that i saw in my opinion anyways.

^ Excellent point! Since I didn't see any of these films, I can't comment. But one thing is for sure. I wouldn't go watch the BBM at any rate. I am looking forward to seeing Crash when the local library has it available.
