Default center console fading!?!

*sigh* sooo ... i'm a little irritated. i detailed the car. as always, i start with the interior, then put the top up and do the exterior. well, i thought i'd check out the protectant wipes from macguiar's (i usually use armor all ones). i start using them on the center console, and then i see it steaming. and the stuff evaporating.

now, this is the first time i've seen this happen. it was about 60 degrees out so although the interior was warm, it wasn't hot. nonetheless, my center console looks very faded. the cup holder, however, looks great cuz it didn't do anything to it there.

my question is ... is this just a film from it evaporating? how can i get rid of it? or am i going to have to buy new plastic pieces for that area? i think the lesson i learned. do everything else, THEN find shade, let it cool down, and do the interior. and i'm not using macguiar's anymore after that experience.

one more question. what do you use for the interior vinyl?

i always do all detail steps in shade...
interior leather i like lexol (they make two- a cleaner and a protectant)
my fav vinyl is made by the same co and is called vinylex.
have used lots of other products, and second choice would be 303.
