Default Clay on AP2 V1 wheels?

Is it worth the time and effort to clay the wheels on our cars??? Will it do anything or just be a waste of time???

It is not a waste of time. Your wheels are clearcoated, just like your cars paint, and should be treated as such. Clay them, then put a good sealant on them (I use Zaino for my paint, and Jetseal 109 for the wheels). Sealing your wheels will attract less brake dust and allow you to clean them more efficently.

agree...
and if you dont clay them, any imbedded particles will eventually get worse. clay will pull them out-
a good synthetic will help protect.

some guys will say that this is obvious, but it needs to be said:
dont use clay that you use on the wheels on your paint

just wondering how would something like klasse aio hold up at track temperatures? thats when brake dust is the worst, but i feel like the heat might be too much for sealant or wax.

I used WD-40, clay, file, 600, 1500, & 2000 sandpaper, rotary file, 3M Perfect-It II, Ford Clearcoat Polish, whatever it took to make the surface smooth, and then coated it with Zaino Z2 Clearcoat polish.

I didn't like grinding off the clearcoat, but I wanted to get rid of the bite marks from the tire machines and some minor gouges on the edge of the rims. I would not use the files and sandpaper on a decent clearcoat finish.

The front side of the wheel got cleaned with scrub brush, Nylon cup brush, clay, 3M Perfect-It II, Ford ClearCoat Polish, and then coated with the Zaino Z2.

The clay was an old bar that I was not going to use on the paint again.

After you clay/clean the wheels, apply this to them.

I got it about 3 weeks ago, and have had it on my wheels on my civic for 2 weeks. Definetely cut down on brake dust buildup, and I drive an average of 70 miles a day.

I'm one of those that pulls off the wheels every year to clean and wax the back side of the wheels. I like to see clean shiny wheels. I use GRIOT'S clay (post paint cleaning usage) and paint sealer.
