Hey all, as you know I posted a few days ago about getting the sticker residue off my dash. Well it came off with a little dalluted de-solve-it(pretty much the same as goo-gone). Now I've got a couple spots on the dash that are shinnier than the rest of the dull finish. Doesn't look to good =(. Anyone know what might restore the dull finish? I'm affraid to use any of the dash protectants. All of the ones I've seen leave it all shiny and slimey. Anyone else have any sort of problem like this? Thanx for listening, I dont think anyone else would understand my agonizing over things like this.
This was posted in car talk, figured it belonged here.

I feel your pain, Zack. I have been using BlueMagic Leather and Vinyl Cleaner. It leaves the dash absolutely flat, just like new, no shine at all. However, I don't know if it will restore a shiny spot to flat again. Are the spots remaining residue from the adhesive, or a result of the solvent (i.e., are they the shape of the stickers or the shape of the the area you cleaned)? If the spots are caused by a residue of adhesive or solvent, perhaps the cleaner will remove that residue. If the solvent damaged the surface of the material, I don't know what you could do about that. Worth a try. Good luck.

CraZ,

I must say this is a first for me seeing someone ask to REMOVE the shine and make something dull. You might try some more wicked chemicals, like acetone, or paint remover...although do so at your own risk. They might have enough punch to kill the shine, but weak enough to not destroy the material.
