Well, as they say, necessity is the mother of all invention....

Tonight giving the S her usual rub down with the cali duster, I noticed some bumps on the trunk. Ran my fingers lightly over the paint and it felt like there was tree sap all over the whole car. BUT - there ain't any trees putting off sap just yet far as I can tell... My mind jumped to the jackasses repairing the cracks in the asphalt on the street outside my office, and how bad the wind was blowing and all I could think of was having little flakes of tar melting into my paint. Needless to say I was so freaking pissed off I couldn't think straight for a minute or two and then it hit me "CLAYBAR". Since I didn't have one, I ran off to the local pep boys and they had two to choose from: a Mother's product and some no name. Got the Mother's which also came with some wax and detail spray.
Read the directions and went to work. Probably took about 45 minutes and was super easy. Had my baby looking sparkly in no time and well worth the effort.

I'd been putting off doing this because I thought it might be a bit more labor intensive than it is.

If you haven't clayed your car, you really should. It's frighteningly easy and leaves your car looking awesome.

Also, I'm so glad that I dust (and detail where necessary) my car daily. You couldn't even see the flakes of crap on my car and I can't imagine how bad the paint would have been screwed up had I let it sit for a week or two in the sun.

Just make sure you wax or polish the areas you clay bar... that stuff strips off everything, and leaves your paint basically unprotected! But yes, its amazing stuff

Prior to claying for the first time, I always noticed that my rear bumber was "sandy" feeling and wouldn't take a good shine. I had never heard of clay bar, and never even thought my paint could be contaminated with it being so new at the time. After my first claying I was hooked. Now my bumper (and the whole car for that matter) stays as smooth as a baby's back side.

good report catfish... reminder to efthimios and others who are new to this- be sure to split your clay. so that if you drop it you wont lose all of it. if you drop it, you need to trash that piece.

Can you tell me I have My 00 silverstone. I have clay barred it about 6 months ago. I have since applied the following Zaino (z2,z6,z2,z6,z2,z6)*3 plus numerous other z6's after washing it down.
I am concerned that I should have spent even longer on the claybarring than I actually did.

So what should I do??
Should I remove all Zaino (how do I do that) and then claybar ?

Or just claybar? If the later will it get rid of all containiments or just those since the zaino was last applied?

Cheers Rob
