Default How to Care for Softop!

I'm sorry if this has been covered over and over again, but the search function isn't working too well for me. I am a new owner of a 2000 S2000 (Berlina Black) and was wondering if there was something that I am supposed to put on the top in order to protect it. So far when I wash the car I have been simply washing the top with the same wash I use on the body, is that okay?

I noticed other converible tops look far more black that mine, almost a wet look. Is there a vinyl spray or something you put on to achieve that look?

Yeah, it has been covered over and over
I personally use 3M's '303 Aerospace Protectant' as do many owners.. It works well on ALL vinyl, rubber, and plastic surfaces (and your top is vinyl not fabric which you already seem to know) including your dash, convertible boot cover, everything on the interior that is not leather, roll bar covers etc. I also use it on my tire sidewalls, it looks good without being too glossy.
Raggtop cleaner and protectant (2 seperate products) are also popular. (for the top)
Every 6 months or so you want to apply 'Shin Etsu' silicone grease to all your rubber gaskets/seals on the top frame and elsewhere, you can order it from the dealer- the part # is in the owners manual in the section describing the top.

You will find information on EVERY aspect of your car on this site, too much information sometimes.
Have fun and drive!
Mike
