Microscopic Windshield Pits
Today, the car was parked headed into the sun and lighting conditions were just right to notice hundreds of microscopic pits distributed evenly across the windshield. It reminded me of Microsoft Windows "Flying Thru Space" screen saver. In normal light conditions, the windshield is clear and doesn't have an abundance of the usually expected rock chips or scratches and the glass feels smooth to the touch.
I've checked the search function and the consensus seems to be that deeper pits are there forever. For smaller pits, there were recommendations covering clay baring, AIO, Autoglym, RejeX, etc. that might remove the smaller pits.
If existing pits can't be removed, is there something that could be applied to "harden" the glass surface and prevent additional pits or prevent light from highlighting the pits?

Klasse AIO works well on these, at least on my car. There are also some special glass polishes you can use with a PC to buff them out if they are not too deep - I am sure someone will post the name of one - have not had occasion to use one, yet, myself.

you can try clay first to get contaminents off...
then a glass polish, with the pc as dave suggested, will get most of the small stuff. the windshield should look a lot diff in the light you are checking it in.
several glass polishes out there- if you are a zainoholic (maybe even if you arent) you would use z-12
the clay is not a requirement if you are using a glass polish- i just use it cause i feel that it makes the polishing easier.
