Default A problem after detailing the top

I recently applied some "vinyl care" to the soft top (MY 07). It looks great now but the problem is when I try to put the top down the mechanism suddenly stops after going about 9/10th of the way. Give a nudge to the back glass and it continues to move.
I dont remember having this problem before applying vinyl care.
Did the "vinyl care" made the top too stiff or this problem has nothing to do with applying the vinyl care?
Anyone had a similar problem?

Thanks for reading

I've been cleaning and conditioning my top for a quite a while now (twice a month) and have never had the issue you describe. My s2k is a 2003, so i too have the rear glass window. I would bring it to the dealer and see what they have to say.

Just my 2 cents.

If anything the top will be more pliable. Seems to be unrelated.

It's highly unlikely it has to do with the vinyl products. Lower your top like... 23/rd's of the way, and mess with the bar on the underside of your top, and wiggle it around. There has been problems in past years of the exastic that pulls the bar backwards stretching out, and making the top act weird when it tries to close, and not closing properly. Only thing I can think of?

mechanism is not affected by spray on the top...
pure coincidence, imo.

probably just an adjustment- as suggested above, the dealer should be able to fix it easily.

What was the temperature outside where you tried to put it down? It is winter were I live and a low temperature will definately hinder your tops ability to crease.
I would consider this first, but don't know what your location is.

Of course the mechanism is not affected. But the soft top itself could get stiffer because of the layer of vinyl care and if it is stiffer it would not fold properly. That is what I was thinking.

It was around 20 degrees celcius. So it cannot be the temp:

Lower your top like... 23/rd's of the way, and mess with the bar on the underside of your top, and wiggle it around.
I'll try this.

Thanks everyone for replies.
