Question about washing ..
Hey guys
. Im new to this forum and i got a question .
I like washing my car myself rather than the carwash. And i m using a sponge (sold in gas stations for car washing) and sonax polish & shampoo products . I washed the car first with only water then i used them to wash my car. After im finished i just washed my car with water again. I looked at the car and was really shiny and bright and it was silk smooth
.
My question is after washing i noticed some swirls on the car but im not sure if they were because of the sponge. Do you guys think this a good way to wash my car or should i stick with the carwash ?
Thanks for your help

welcome to the board!!
sponges can swirl cause they trap particles in the holes... you have to wash and rinse them well after use.
i prefer lambswool mitts- still have to wash and rinse, but i think that they unload better than sponge

Sponges are not the ideal wash tool. All foam wash tools are not created equal though. My wash tool of choice is the ShMitt which is made of high speed buffing foam. Check it out . . .

Sheepskin mitts are my second choice. My preference for the ShMitt is due to many factors but some are . . .
-a ShMitt though more expensive than sheepskin lasts much longer than sheepskin
-a ShMitt does not leave hairs on the car like a sheepskin sometimes does
-the ShMitt holds wash solution better. So, more wash solution ends up on the car instead of the driveway. This saves water and car wash soap.
agree 110% with mikeycs comments...
and i would add that the worst possible wash product is the mf wash mitt or pad. they do not unload dirt and grit at all... and the knap is short so its a perfect recipe for swirls.

Thanks for the info guys
. I ll go to a car detailing shop and buy a better quality sponge.
Guys i have another idea ; i saw my friend using a water spray machine , it can also spray shampoo too. He uses the machine to spray water and shampoo. Results are really good. He doesnt spend alot of time washing and nothing touches the car !!!
So what do you think about this ?
Thanks

The problem with this method or going through a "touchless" car wash is that cleaning this way never gets all the dirt off the car. So, when you dry the car you rub the remaining dirt against the paint. This turns your car into swirl city. In order to effectively remove the dirt from your car it needs to be agitated with a good wash tool like the ShMitt or a sheepskin mitt.
