Touch Up Painting
My rear bumper is all messed up from an accedent the other day (scratches and 1 minor dent) on the left most portion of it. I was thinking about sanding it down and puting on a coat of primer and then attempt to blend a base coat (silverstone metallic) and clearcoat. the other alternative is to just use touch up paint, but id like to get the bumper to look like new (for the most part). Is this possible to do with a can of silverstone metallic spray paint and flexable primer, or does it require a professional job to get it to look right?
Yes, it is possible but you need quite a few steps and much patience. I did something similar on my black Viper years ago.
You'll need wet sanding, the exact type of clear coat and a power buffer. You'll also need rubbing and polishing compound and knowing which steps and in what order to do it. It's too lengthy to try and describe here.
ps. Moving to "Wash and wax".

actual painting is similar, but masking becomes an important step-
