got sprayed by sprinklers
Today was slow at work so i took some time out to wash and wax my car. I used dawn (yes the dishwashing soap) to get everything off, then promptly started to wax everything. everything goes well for being 1st time waxing anything, then i leave to go home and get sprayed with with sprinklers, You knoe the mist that kinda ends up floating around.
my question is, should re-do eveything...or should eveything be oK. its that dirty reclaimed city water, i dont knoe what effects it has right after waxing.
Thanks,
Mike

you want to get water spots off immediately...
sounds like you might not need to rewash- if it still looks pretty clean, hit it with a duster first and then do a good detail spray on the car. i like carnuba based sprays, but synthetics will also do fine.

it'll be fine.. no need panic
I do customers' cars and then send them out in snow storms..
at least the paint is protected from the elements..
dry, see how it dried, and a QD and you'll be fine
it would help if you let us know what products you used ?

Way back when I used to detail cars for money I did this guy's car. He was a real jerk. I picked up his car at his office and brought it back to my garage to detail it. When I was done I brought it back to the office. He came out and inspected it with a fine toothed comb. He found some spots on the bottom of the passenger side door and asked me to take the car back to fix them. I didn't have any towels or QD with me. So, I had to take the car back to my garage. I cleaned up the spots and then brought the car back again.
This time I went over it really well before I let him know I was there. The spots were back! Then I realized I had driven by some guys house on the way there who had the sprinklers on and that must be the cause. I still didn't have any towels or QD with me. So, I wiped off the spots with my hat (hey, I was just an irresponsible kid back then).

I like it when I wax my car and I get caught in the rain or by a sprinkler shortly after...
Let's me see how good of job I did

rinse the car, or just wash it again. if you waxed it properly, the water from the sprinkler should not penetrate the wax. My car has been hit by sprinklers every night for 3 days at the hotel I am at in Austin. I went into a self service car wash today and rinsed the car, and everything beads up just like it did 3 weeks ago when i waxed it. No washing was neccessary and viola, no more spots.
