In this case, I know all 3 parties. And I have had my own experience with two of them. Huy, it is quite conceivable that Inline dinged the valve cover. Unless you saw it go in the box and watched it get sealed, you cannot be 100% sure of it's packaged condition. The attention to detail by some of the employees there is lacking. I'm not talking about Jeremy or Matt or maybe even one or two others. Also, in a shop as busy as theirs, it is entirely possible that it was knocked off a counter or scraped whilst on the floor.

I've spent a fair amount of money there and yet I got my valve cover back stripped of all paint. I didn't ask for that. Since I didn't plan to show the car anymore, I rationalized it as the heat would dissipate more quickly because there wasn't that extra paint keeping it trapped inside the valve cover. In my case, the missing paint really didn't affect my goal- have a strong motor- so I never sweated it, and it remains looking like the "Back to the Future" DeLorean.

Disclaimer: Since I did not see this vc... ever... I am not saying who did what or anything like that. Just sharing an experience.

Yeah, thanks Skip. dude01, I don't know why you keep saying that I must have installed it improperly, as I have repeadedly said that I did not install the cover, or have a tool anywhere near it ... I don't even know how you would bend your valve cover by incorrecly installing it, I don't think you could gain that much torque on any bolt to bend metal that thick the way it is bent.

Anyway, yeah rudes2k, I don't think that he is a bad guy either, I think that b/c of the way the transaction was structured, it turned out poorly.

...I agree...no one here is bad...however, Dude01 is responsible for anythign that happens to it all the way through shipping. In this case, it was the seller's responsibility to make sure that InlinePro uninstalled the VC correctly and packaged it appropriately. Just because the valve cover looked good before Inline Pro touched it doesnt' mean the seller is not responsible. The seller is also responsible for making sure it's packaged so that it's impossible for the item to get damaged without it obviously being the shipping company's fault.

Dude01...if you cant' say that you actually SAW (or better yet, provide pictures) of the valve cover AFTER it was uninstalled AND you saw the packaging with the valve cover in the box, then I believe you are responsible for the damages (even if you yourself had nothing to do with teh damages...you're responsible for making sure it does not damaged en route to the buyer).

Just my .02. Sick car btw though. I don't subscribe to Modified, but I saw your car on the cover and picked up a copy

I purchased Huy's Ings rear bumper and it was fine when I received it. he informed me diligently of all the minor blemishes and provided me with high resolution pictures of the bumper just before it was sent out. Huy went the extra distance to make sure the bumper was wrapped very very well as to prevent damage during transportation. He even spent more than he needed to to purchase extra bubble wrapping and foam to properly package the bumper in a way that the edges would not chip. I don't know how a valve cover would be able to sustain that much damage, but Huy is a good guy. I'm not really sure who is liable for the damage, but it just sucks that two good people are involved in a crappy situation such as this one.

The motor is out of the car. It's not very hard to uninstall a Valve Cover. When the motor is out of the car. It is some what diffcult to install a Valve Cover, when the motor is in. Which I assume the new nicks and dent occured.. during installation. Zach I know you said you didn't attempt to install it. That's the only conclusion I can make.
Inline removes Valve Cover on a daily basis and ships out high dollar parts. The package was wrapped well and extra cardboard was supplied to insure that it was delivered safely. They took several extra precaution to insure that it was well packaged. Zach even you said the package didn't appear damaged.
I can provided pictures of the Valve Cover, later in the evening. My decision still hasn't changed. The Valve Cover was in perfect condition when it was shipped. I can't resell the Valve Cover, cause of the dent. I'm sorry Zach.

Skip, Zach, Lee, & all parties included,

This is Christian, I am the one who packaged the valve cover to ship out, I am using Chris' username to explain the situation.

I personally took the valve cover from Lee's motor, wrapped it in bubble wrap, and placed it into a OEM honda factory valve cover box. This is the identical box that Honda uses to ship their valve covers. I did all this in a matter of 20 minutes from the time it came off the motor and went straight to packaging the valve cover never left my hands until it went into the box.

Again, I know how the valve cover left and how it was packaged. I have pictures of a recent shipment that was damaged by UPS, they have to be some of the most careless individuals when it comes to handling these packages. Why didn't he file a claim with UPS?

Regards,

Christian G.

Lee is a good dude. I bought Lee's turbo kit, and i when i went there to pick it up. I checked out Lee's engine including the valve cover. The valve cover was still on the engine and it look like it was in great condition. I didn't see scratches or dents at all, but the signature was faded like it was described, thats it. So I gotta say that I saw with my own eyes it was fine.

Also, If Christian was the one packing it, he was very careful judging by the way he helped me carry parts of the turbo to my car.

Another thing I would like to add, I had a couple of friends in the pass that worked at UPS and there were 16 - 20 year old that are very careless and they told me stories about how people there would toss boxes like it was a football. And imagine if a inexperienced 16 year old set the VC box at the very bottom of the truck and threw a heavy ass box on top...Im sure no matter how nice its packaged, the VCs gonna mess up.

~Just my side of the story and not blaming anyone. Hope this helps
