Alpine adapter for in-dash commands
For what it's worth, the guys at my local stereo shop called Alpine U.S.A. yesterday and were told that the KCE-865B adapter is available only in Europe and Japan and will not work with Alpine equipment sold in the U.S.A. In addition the Alpine guy told the stereo shop that Alpine U.S.A. couldn't even get that adapter.
Also, I spoke with Sound Gate again, and was told that they plan to make an S2000 adapter perhaps this fall. I liked the "perhaps"... Perhaps I'll wait and see.
For our southern hemisphere members, fall begins in late September.
I was told the engineer had the specs required on his desk but had quite a few projects ahead of the S2000.

Luis,
Interested in becoming a dealer?
I still can be your US contact, [blue]and I am willing to be a guinea pig to see if it works with US radios.

.I'll see if I can find how much the interface costs and will let you know. I'm ready to bet that it will work. The headunits are virtually the same (radio tuning aside) and it can't even cross my mind any reason why they would design interfaces differently for virtually the same units (compare for instance the CDA-7969 being sold in the states and in Europe).

Thanks Luis!
Getting that adaptor would definitely swing me to Alpine as opposed to Pioneer or Sony.
If you would be willing to help, I'd be willing to be a guinea pig. In other words, I'd spend money for a KCE-865B to see if it would work on an Alpine, taking the chance that it wouldn't. I'd get my local stereo shop to help me test it out.
It would seem to me we ought to get at least ONE imported here and working before we conclude a group buy.

Agreed, I also have an Alpine player installed and have not gone the PAC route yet. The radio frequencies shouldn't have anything to do with it, this isn't a tuner, its a remote.
I look forward to seeing how this works!
