Barry,

Did he give you any thoughts on the compatibility with US models?

No.
We'll have to see. Alpine USA says it is NOT compatible.

Then why is there an 1/8" 'remote' jack on the back of my IVA-C800? Something has to go in there...

I am about to replace the honda head unit with an alpine unit and cd changer. My local Alpine dealer (Crouydon, South London, UK) is able to supply 2 interface units - 1 to interface an alpine head unit with the s2k controls, the other to interface an alpine cd changer with the stock honda head unit. If you are stuck, I am sure i can obtain an example of either or both of these interfaces for you - just leat me know if I can help,

All the best

Ian

I notice that Discount Car Audio is now a sponsor of the board (just noticed it, don't know how long they have been around), but I am wondering if they might not be an ally in figuring this out. Thoughts?

They are actually SoundDomain.com. They have been around for a while now. I bought some stuff from them before and they seem professionals.

G-s2k, did you hear back? I emailed my order to Paul Hawkins at sales@incar-discount.co.uk yesterday, but I didn't get an answer back. I re-emailed today.

Kibro, thanks for the tip on the Alpine CDA-7878. It led me to read about CDA-7873, CDA-7875 and CDA-7876. Those last three lack MP3 but still have "60 watts x four channel." The Alpine CDA-7878 is state-of-the-art, MP3 capable, but only "45 watts x four channel".

Here's the link to Alpine's press release about the CDA-7878.

I'm starting to think these part numbers might just be an Urban legend
