The Alpine sales rep did tell my local store "Star Video" that the new single DIN heads like the CDA-7878 DO HAVE the receptacle.

Ahh, ok, I get it. No worry here, I just like my set up to play great sounding CDs. However, still sounds like we are running into problems with the DIN adapter. Argh! So close, but so far away. I look forward to seeing what solution you folks come up with!

Sorry
Yellow S2000, does the wiring harness from the CDA-7875 have a lead for dash controls or wired remote control? I doubt it but it might. Does the manual show a lead for that?

Also, did you use Pinky's Mod or another PAC based mod to enable the dash controls?

How do you like the 60 watts x 4 CDA-7875?

Barry

I have all the latest Alpine CD head unit owner's manuals!

I have access to the http://www.Alpine1.com Tech Center
http://147.208.170.134/oswego/Login/AlpineLogin

I don't want to share the password... The security system may detect multiple logins and shut me off...

I'm in the process of uploading them to an idrive account so everyone can get to them...

If anyone has a decent FTP site, it might make things a bit easier... Just let me know.

I looked through the installation instructions for a couple of the models mentioned in this thread, but didn't find any info on a dash control interface, though. I hope you guys have better luck.

Okay, here's the link to all the Alpine CD Head Unit owner's manuals that were on the Alpine Tech Center website.
https://www.idrive.com/s2000online/files/Shared/
There's also Tape Head Units, but I didn't bother to download those.

BTW, there's also a "Head Unit Accessories" section, but it's empty. I thought I might find info on the Dash Control Kit, but no luck

Wow. Nice job.

The Owner's Manual for the D857 1.5 DIN unit contains the following reference to steering wheel controls:

"Compatibility with Factory Steering Wheel Radio Controls If your vehicle has steering wheel controls for the radio, an optional steering wheel control interface may be available to connect to your Alpine radio. For details, contact your Alpine dealer."

The D857 does NOT fit the single DIN slot on our cars. It does have the 1/8" jack on the back.

The F#1Status CDA-7990 head MIGHT work with the KCE-865B or some similar unit. Alpine told me "no" but I found the following reference in the CDA-7990 Owner's Manual:

"Connectable to Remote Control Interface Box You can operate this unit from the vehicle's remote control unit when an Alpine Remote Control Interface Box (optional) is connected. For details, contact your Alpine dealer."

By the way, the suggested retail price for the CDA-7990 is $3,000.00.

The Owner's Manual for the CDA-7878 and CDA-7876 have no reference to steering wheel controls.

You COULD use the KCE-865B to activate the "mute" function. However, it doesn't seem like there is any way to hard-wire the other dash controls to the CDA-7878.

This is a terrible news....

Oh well... I guess I'll just wait for a few more months then.
