Here is another perfect example: https://www.s2ki.com/...ok-today-bored/
That was way out of line. Sad that's happening now on s2ki.
A perfect example of a terrible moderator. Blah, blah, 13 years, blah...

Will something be done about it? Doubtful. But we can hope anyway.

I read this it and I do believe that this could have been handled differently. Trust me when I say that one of my biggest pet peaves is when I hear that "things aren't the way they used to be..." I don't necessarily want them to always be like they used to be.... I want them to be better and to evolve... The demographic of the s2000 enthusiast has changed. The site needs to adapt to that as well. This is a challenge for all of us and a reason why we have a wide demographic of moderators. We are always bringing in new members. Fresh faces always bring new perspective to the site. The Moderating Team should be a good mix of old and new. (I use the term "old" since some of us, like me, are sensitive to that )

So with that. I ask for patience as we grow. And yes, we will make mistakes. But that's why the people report issues, send PMs, etc...

Wow.
I know, right?!? WTF? That aggravated me more than he/she closing the thread for no reason.. And according to some people early in this thread, we were singling out and flaming "good" moderators unjustly...
The "Thank you, guest" comment was made to me. I was dissapointed more than anything that a moderator would say something like this. I deal with ignorant people everyday so it's no surprise that some of the mods are not the smartest people. I think this was just a "power trip" moment for him. People can change.

That thread end was kick started by AP1Driver "Do you feel better after posting that?" which set the tone for what followed.

Dunno why S2KI just don't make the moderation invisible so if anyone has to complain, they just complain to the moderating team rather than taking umbridge with one particular person.

That said, are people really so easily offended?

I think when people get offended, it's best to go away for a while and take a break. It's impossible to solve problems sometimes in the subforum of an extinct Japanese 4 cylinder sportscar group.

My fix is easy and is said in many ways in the previous posts:

Moderators don't contribute. They moderate.

If you're made a moderator, you look, watch, act when needed. When you contribute, and have an opinion, sprinkle in a little hubris, and you then have a demi-god who if your opinion differs with can cut you off at the knees. It's not right.

I think a rule should be that a Moderator should not contribute to a forum they moderate so the Mods feelings aren't hurt when someone has an opinion different from them which causes them to lock / delete a thread. They should be an enforcer, not their own army.

Respectfully submitted.

Huh, food for thought. I like what you proposed Fasting, I doubt it would or will happen but it's a great idea in my tiny little mind.

You get to coach, not play.

Read the last few posts. All of which I had NOTHING to do with... (I have a screenshot in case it gets deleted after this reply is read, let me know)

So,

Luder, you have now been added to the list of power-tripping mods who start trouble in a thread and then immediately lock it when someone responds with something you don't like or don't agree with. It must suck for people to have no other power over anything or anyone in life to be so low as to try and be a "Boss" online, for free! Too bad I didn't get to respond to your ignorant and OPINIONated post and "enlighten" you. I may PM you the "correct" response to your replies about MY car. Another mod FTL .

And before anyone says I'm "bashing" a mod, as bad as I would LOVE to (in this specific instance), all I'm doing is pointing out fact. This is seriously out of hand and very OLD.. I was just about to pay to become a "Member" of this forum, but I'm seriously having second thoughts. While still better (to me) than any of the other S2K forums, my opinion of it is slowly changing, and not for the better...
Whew! If anyone still needs anymore evidence that there is a problem, they need to clean their windshield.

IMO it's possible to mod a thread and contribute. People have to just put their egos aside and mods can't be afraid to mod each other too. It's not everyone against the mods here.

BTW, Nice car!

It's a good idea in theory, but I don't know if that could/would work. The main issue is (I believe) people think when a moderator simply posts about a topic (and not enforcing the rules) it is regarded as fact and not opinion, when smilies aren't used (if they are being sarcastic or joking) people take it as an attack and in some cases, rightfully so.

I post in a lot of areas of this forum, my moderator hat is not always on, nor should it be. My Moderator status is only relevant when necessary, otherwise we're here to enjoy this forum as much as anyone else, removing our ability to post also removes our ability to enjoy posting.

I think a lot of people need to learn to not take things so seriously, or personally.

Good reply. Thank you.
I'm not for restrictions for Mods for all areas, just the one's area they are made responsible for. To do otherwise, you'd never get anyone who would want to be a Mod.
