Talk over-moderated
No, what he's saying is that regardless of the content, the moderator responding should be aware of the responsibilities that come along with being such and the roles that they play. I.e. instead of doing what Luder did in the above referenced thread, which was to flame the OP and cause strife, something which a moderator 'shouldn't' do, the mod could have simply not said anything at all. Instead, he was a bit of an asinine prick, and when he was called out for being such he locked it.
A mod should always contribute to a thread if they can, they should not however cause disagreements or act in a way that is not appropriate of someone with their title.

My first post in that thread was informative (regardless of what the OP thinks is right or wrong about his supposed functional modifications. I further pointed out that his faux Mugen strut bar was NOT functional to refute his 'function over form' comment.
He and a cheerleader responded in a snarky way. Showing the respect they did, I responded in kind. Apologies for displaying a human characteristic rather than being immune to the nature of their responses since I am a moderator. It's happened so few times in my history as a moderator on S2Ki; search the gallery, you'll see.
My first post in that thread, I contributed as a member; I'm hoping that's ok with the membership and guests here. I've owned an S2000 for 13+ years, had a total of 4, and currently own two. I'm still passionate about all things S2000; separating the ownership experience and membership to the community because of 'Moderator' status is going to be damn near impossible for any moderator. When it becomes easy, those moderators tend to step down on their own.
My second response to AP1Driver with the sarcasm was wrong on my part. Calling out Sokdo as a 'guest' was wrong on my part. I didn't cause the disagreement, but I certainly responded to it when AP1Driver and Sodko started it. I believe AP1Driver took my initial commentary too sensitively, but now I can see why. I think he believes that he's being overly moderated in other forums, his second response and Sodko's cheerleading getting moderated in the Gallery only help to fan the flames of his perception. I didn't know it then; I hadn't seen this thread; if I had, I would've treated AP1Driver's post and commentary on his modifications with kid gloves and told him he didn't do anything wrong to his car.
I subsequently locked the thread as has been done in the past when threads go negative and/or off-topic. I furthered commented that the OP could/should start a new thread if he cares to as follows:
This thread has run its course and is being locked. OP, if you're willing go ahead and start another thread. Just be known that opinions and thoughts shared by others will not be moderated unless it's off-topic in nature, consists of personal attack, or hateful in nature.
The Gallery is a forum that is most definitely not 'over-moderated'. But when it does get moderated, threads get moved as needed, and infrequently, threads get locked. Please do a search to see the 'moderation' actions in the gallery; if you are a member, you can filter your view at the bottom of the page on each forum. I'm not sure the function is available to guests.
Please don't jump to conclusions without getting a full picture.

First off, my "function over form" comment was about the hood, nothing more. That was obvious as I was referencing a question in a quote about the hood, not the STRUT BAR. Second, and again, I didn't post that topic to discuss my car's modifications. Why should you be concerned about the performance of MY car anyway?? I have a RaceLogic VBOX that tells me more about my car's performance than you will ever be able, regardless of how much you THINK you know about cars. That discussion could go on all day, but it's WAY off topic in this thread. This thread was created to point out mods like yourself pretending and acting hard behind a keyboard. It gets old. NO, I am not sensitive to anything on this board, it's an online forum for God's sake. I haven't been over-moderated too many times, only a few. I live a REAL life outside the internet and don't like having to detract from it by responding to garbage posts on my topics created on this board. I have never once gloated, or lied about, any of my knowledge regarding automotive technology and engineering. I have likely forgotten more about dynamics and physics, engine operation methodology, etc. than you ever knew, and I don't care how old you are. NOW, gloating. Being an asinine prick just like the responses to my posts. I've been over it. You, however, need to reconsider your board status. You don't fit the position. I've owned and ran a few businesses, and if anyone treated one of my customers/clients like some of you moderators treat total strangers, that you can't even meet face to face, well, lets say they would no longer be a part of my team. Perspective? Get it?
Why did you feel the need to respond to my post that was meant for Arsenal?
Also, you do know personal attacks are against site rules, correct? If you cannot keep composure, why do you have an expectation of anyone needing to maintain their composure when dealing with you?
It depends on the person. For me, when I know I'm wrong, I can freely admit it, try to fix the mistake and move on. I gave the OP of that thread an 'out' to go ahead and start a new thread after locking the first one that derailed. Although not immediately, I did end up regretting responding with what I did. Before I got a chance to rectify in the gallery, the thread was already 're-moderated' by someone higher up than me.
It was then I caught wind of this thread. I stated my peace/piece with an apology in this thread, and stating again that I regretted my responses now.
I've lost my cool at times too. We're human.
Say, I didn't start this thread to be a bitchfest and an Us vs. Them. I never named names and don't intend to.
I want to talk solutions to issues.
Let's walk it back... ok?

After reading this thread, I agree it's turned into a rant thread and not something that could easily drive to a solution. However, historically on S2Ki, the rant threads at times have been very beneficial.
--Issues come to light (ex. I didn't know there were issues in S2K Talk seeing that I don't frequent it often enough. I wouldn't have known and now I can avoid moderating the forums I manage in kind to some of the issues)
--Ranting also has allowed people to get stuff off their chests and carry on, if nothing else.
So how do we proceed forward. My idea:
1. Let's collectively get a list of all issues (perceived or real).
2. Qualify the list --what can be measurably fixed and what cannot
3. Of the items that can be fixed, identify a concise solution.
4. Work to implement whatever solutions.
5. Sometime later in time, reevaluate the original list to see whether or not the same issues exist.

. There are no personal attacks per my wording. This was me sarcastically calling myself out on the comment before it. Giving back what was given to me, pur sang... I've never once addressed anyone on this board rudely without provocation. Fact. Hope you have a good day
