Ok lets all calm down before this turns into a angry mob. The s2000 talk section is a difficult section because it seems to be the place where everyone posts without actually bothering to look at the other sections or reading the forum rules. The picture s2ka shows the extent of the issue. Actually look at the thread titles. Do any of the locked threads seem like they belong in here? Most if not all at least belong in other sections or should be removed because there are active long running threads (ie is this car worth it) that they should have been asked in. So there is options here. The first is people could actually pay attention to where they are posting and think about their posts before they make them. The second is instead of locking the threads they could just be deleted which I don't like because with locking them the mod can provide a reason and maybe the person can learn from it and the thread remains searchable if needed (though for the truly worthless ones I rather delete them to make searching easier).

As for the old threads being locked issue I don't understand the issue. If a thread is locked it is still searchable via the search or google and most if not all the DIY's are in the FAQ stickies. If someone has a question it is much better to read the DIY and then post a new thread referencing the DIY thread they had questions about. This shows they did search and have an intelligent question as apposed to the "bros what's the bestest intake for the s2000?" If there is a DIY or otherwise very useful thread feel free to pm it to a mod and we can add it to the FAQ threads so it is even easier to find.

Finally as for the "your only volunteers" comments and whatever yes you are right we are volunteers and we are grossly outnumbered. It gets annoying when the same rules keep getting broken numerous times a day everyday when the rules are very clear. We do our best to try and keep the forums organized and clean so that useful info can be found and questions answered quickly. At the end of the day we all do this for free and spend a good amount of time doing it. The rules exist so there are guidelines to follow and so we can keep things going in the right direction. As users of this forum you all have the same responsibility. The report button exists for this exact reason. So instead of pointing the fingers at us as the evil overlords why don't you take part and help keep the forums clean? Or you can keep whining.

This forum was the cesspool of s2ki. All the crap got dumped here. For a very long time the section was under moderated. I'm sorry it is not the free for all it used to be and that rules you don't like exist. This forum will continue to be moderated as per the rules in the stickies and by the terms of service you agreed to when you signed up. If you feel a moderator was unjust or did something outside their power or didn't follow the rules or if you feel a rule is unjust and hurting the community PM the mod/mods/admins we would be happy to discuss it. The reason is thread is still open is because we want you to enjoy it here. I would suggest however not to turn is into a witch hunt and a general bitchfest. If you'd like to discuss rules or actions you have a disagreement with this will probably be your only chance to do so within this section. Some would suggest taking it and not squandering it. We are already discussing your ideas and will continue to do so.

I will have to 3rd that S2000 Talk seems to be the place where [especially new] users post whatever and haven't explored the site enough. I am glad some are using the search function, but bumping a thread from 2001 that has errant information in it hurts more than helps. At that point I am more than inclined to move the thread to its proper subforum, or lock it if the information therein is falsified.

I do hope that everyone reading this post has, at a minimum, also read the last two posts in this one: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/753...g-in-s2k-talk/

Let me be the first to vote this power tripping mod out.
Seconded. Who is going to moderate the moderators? For the record that broke rule 2a and 2d, as well as "soft" rule A).

No. So if a pot hole forms in the road it shouldnt be fixed until someone complains about it which is hopefully before you hit it break your front suspension and careen into a tree? If everyone drive 100mph on the highway and no one clomplains it isnt illegal? Come on.

The Admins. Send them and the mod or whoever you disagree with a well written and thought out PM and you will get the same in reply. If you just PM them and say "Gigdy is a dick", however true it may be, will probably not get you the response you are after.

With all due respect, I'm sorry my observation was construed as whining, especially as it was validated by a number of others here.

You can ask A2, who has personally known me for years. I just call it as I see it. I don't think a mod needs to resort to calling my observation something that belittles the intent. It's talking down to us again.

Sorry, I know that I said I was done. I am now.
Cheers.

This isn't a bitchfest or whining contest, it's a fact filled discussion that's agreed upon by multiple members as this thread continues to grow. I agree that people shouldn't be allowed to post "anything", but you guys know as well as us that things are over-moderated here all too often...

That wasn't directed at you. You raised a valid question it's the others that just pile on and turn a thread like this into a whine fest and witch hunt.

As I edited an earlier post I have edited yours. This is not a place to attack moderators. It will not be tolerated. If that rule can not be followed this thread will be closed.

In case anyone hasnt noticed we are trying to keep this thread open. But in the end it is up to you all.

It definitely is being over moderated imo. I understand closing some old threads but "noobs" get flamed for not searching but then get thread locked when they do search and post up in a relevant thread.
As mentioned before common sense should be used before just going down the list locking everything. Few pages back on here more threads are locked than open. I've never agreed with the automatic closing of old threads. In most cases information is still good and can be improved on or discussed rather than locked.
