I feel like lack of common sense has become a problem in this country and now on social media, interactive forums, and the internet in general.

Bottom line is, don't use common sense on this board and you'll feel like there is 'over moderating'.

I agree with your first statement, but not with the latter. My comment only pertained to this section.
If you're implying by addressing my observation and dismissing it as a lack of common sense, I disagree.

I'm through here as this is exactly what is wrong with addressing an issue in a public forum.
It's a big tree, and there are a lot of squirrels
Please carry on.

My warn status is for this exact same reason. A certain mod took offense to my questioning of why a thread was closed, and reasoning as to why I believe the rule about thread bumping is archaic and useless. He gave me the same URL about complaining about mods, so I did, and subsequently received a warning.

It appears there is a distinct lack of traffic in the talk forum, so perhaps certain mods have to justify their presence by clamping down excessively.

I still don't understand why it is frowned upon for someone to bump an old thread that contains a lot of information in order to have a clarifying question answered? They are told to open a new thread so the same information can be re entered etc. or bemoaned because they didn't search, but did.

With regard to the closing of old threads with have been bumped, I am of the opinion that the current forum guideline regarding that is worth reviewing for possible change or clarification of purpose. I have asked for this to be reviewed and it's being discussed by the moderators. As one of the newer moderators, I believe it's appropriate for me to defer to the experience of those moderators who have been here longer than I have.

With regard to moving of threads, this is necessary to the organization of the site and to help others more effectively find what they are looking for in the future. When you are searching, you expect technical discussion to be in Under the Hood, questions about paint jobs to be in Body and Paint, tire discussions to be in Tires and Wheels. This helps future visitors find what they need. Not moving them just makes it harder on anyone who tries to use the search function. Including the forwarding (which shows the thread was moved in the section index) is a courtesy to help the OP find his/her thread. It may appear as an eyesore to some, but it is helpful to the person who we believe inadvertently posted in the wrong section. Without it, the OP has no idea where it went.

Moderators are currently discussing this topic. I have encouraged/requested other mod's involvement.

Abusive or foul language is not open for discussion. It isn't appropriate.

Sounds like we're on the right path. We're all here to share our joy for the car and other aspects of life.

I think moderators should also go through more vetting, and be voted on for a given section. I think moderators should be able to lose their status through a complaint system.

The regular abuse shown by a recent mod suggests they like to have the last word on a topic and then lock the tread. Such behavior shouldn't be tolerated. It should be grounds for the stripping of their mod status.

I believe generally speaking mods should be humble people without chips on their shoulders. The above issues might help develop a qualification list and maybe even a probation period. Heck I probate my staff, mods should get it too.

I second this. Very good points here.

Forum rules, but that makes no sense, and just creates more (sometimes) useless threads. Just one example. I sometimes wonder if some of the mods have absolutely nothing better to do than staying online, monitoring this board.. Do you guys get paid to do this?? lol

I like this forum more than any other S2000 forum, and I'm certainly no OG. Just my thoughts on the situation...
I bekieve they get free membership and for all the grief I would rather pay my dues
